A high arch is when the arch along the inner side of the foot is higher than normal leaving more of a gap between the foot and the floor.
A high arch can be hereditary or it may be because of an underlying neurological problem. An abnormal foot structure such as high arch can lead to foot pain and even deformity of the feet.
Struggling with High Arches? Our nationwide clinics offer expert treatment to relieve pain and enhance recovery. Donβt let discomfort hold you backβbook your appointment today and start your journey to healing!
People with high arches often experience pain in their heel (Plantar Fasciitis), balls of their feet (metatarsalgia) or anywhere in the foot and frequently develop foot problems likeΒ corns &Β calluses,Β bunionsΒ orΒ hammertoes.
Our Podiatrist may suggest custom orthotics or off the shelf insoles for your shoes to help correct the underlying problem that is causing the inflammation. They may employ taping and strapping to reduce strain and give support to the area. Mobilisation is another form of treatment often employed by our Podiatrists where they gently move the joints manually to remove stiffness and restore the normal range of movement. If all of this fails surgery may be a last resort but in the majority of cases working with a Podiatrist will fix the problem.
Our Podiatrist can help you if you are suffering from pain or foot deformities because of a high arch foot structure.Β We can also advise you on the appropriate footwear for high arches that will provide you with the necessary support and protection.
Our Podiatrists can also show you some stretches and exercises to help stretch out the foot that may help to relieve some of the pain and tightness often felt with a high arch.
