Falls Risk Screening Services for GP Practices

Our Falls Prevention Services allow our GP Partners to offer Falls Risk Screening to their at-risk patients.

Falls Risk Screening is the first step in preventing falls and focuses on assessing, prescribing and action. The service, using the latest wireless sensor technology, enables our Chartered Physiotherapists to deliver an accurate falls risk assessment.

How Our Falls Assessment Works

The Falls Screen will assess the risk of a fall occurring. Where there is a Medium to High risk identified, a targeted rehabilitation programme, if indicated, in the form of follow-up physio sessions, will be recommended.

Improved identification of mobility impairment and those at risk of falls can result in targeting interventions, preventive measures and care services towards those at highest risk.

We will provide all patients with a take home sheet with simple tips and advice on how to avoid having a fall and reducing their risk of having one.

1: A walking exercise

To screen you, we will fit you with Kinesis QTUG sensors and take you through a simple walking exercise.

2: Falls Risk Calculated

We use the clinical assessment and QTUG sensor data to assess risk with a high degree of accuracy.

3: Advice to minimise risk

Depending on the results of the falls screen, we’ll explain what you need to do to minimise risk.

How to refer your patients to our falls prevention service:

You can refer your patients to us via our Healthmail address spectrumhealthphysio@healthmail.ie. You can include Patent’s name, e-mail, phone number and any relevant information for the clinician and we can take it from there.
