Climb to Kilimanjaro for the Irish Youth Foundation

The Irish Youth Foundation

The Irish Youth Foundation (IYF) is an association which aims to provide opportunities to children and young people who are facing adverse conditions, with a chance to succeed in their lives. The foundation seeks to highlight the underlying roots of poverty, educational inequalities and disadvantages, homelessness and social exclusion which are encountered by young people. There are numerous social factors which face children, which deny them of some of their most basic rights – they include the right to a good education, the right to support from adults who care about them and a life which is free from fear and discrimination.

The IYF assist children through the following means:

  • Providing safe places where children can go after school – to grow, to learn and to play.

  • Providing opportunities for teenagers from under-served communities to succeed and excel in their lives.

  • Supporting young people at risk of dropping out of school and, in particular, on the critical transition from primary to secondary school

  • Empowering teenagers from disadvantaged neighbourhoods to become engaged in their local communities

A Quote from the Irish Youth Foundation’s website sums up what they are working toward:

“We passionately believe that achievement starts with opportunity”

Dara-Lynne Lenehan to Climb Kilimanjaro for Homework Club in Ringsend

Dara-Lynne Lenehan is soon to embark on an incredible but gruelling adventure for the IYF. Dara-Lynne aims to raise €5000 from her climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania (a towering 5895 metres above sea level!) which will fund a rain water conservation system and will also provide a programme which will educate children about environmental issues for the Homework Club in Ringsend. Over 50 young people will benefit from this programme’s occurrence. Dara-Lynne has left this message regarding her fundraiser on the IYF website:

I have decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for the Irish Youth Foundation, a really worthy cause. The foundation focus on After-School projects in disadvantaged areas of Ireland. My funds raised will help my local Homework Club in Ringsend. Please take some time to look around the charity’s website, particularly the Children We Support section.

I would greatly appreciate your support in helping me to raise the funds to climb Kilimanjaro in aid of the Irish Youth Foundation. Any donation, no matter how small, is hugely appreciated. Just click on the link below to donate.

Many thanks in advance for your support.
Dara Lynne Lenehan.

Dara-Lynne has of course, had to endure a rigorous training regime to prepare her for this fundraising trip. The Physio Company team in our Temple Bar clinic has been providing treatment to Dara-Lynne, so we have taken a special interest in this project and will be closely keeping an eye on Dara-Lynne’s physical needs!

We look forward to seeing Dara-Lynne when she gets back, when she most likely will need a sports massage or two !! Dara-Lynne leaves tomorrow (October 11th), so from everyone at The Physio Company, we would like to wish her the very best of luck on her journey and also we would like to encourage people to donate to this terrific cause. If you would like to donate to this cause click here or if you would like to read more on the IYF click here. Thank you!!
