Our Scholarship Proposal.

The Spectrum Health Scholarship is a privately funded scholarship awarded to final year student(s) of the BSc. Podiatric Medicine programme and final year of the Msc. Podiatric Medicine programme in Galway University.

The fund seeks to award individuals who demonstrate drive, ambition and integrity and who display a genuine interest in the field of Irish Podiatry Private Practice.

Information For Applicants.

  • The Spectrum Health Scholarship is open to final year students of the Bsc. Podiatric Medicine programme and final year of the Msc. Podiatric Medicine programme only.
  • The successful applicant(s) of the Spectrum Health Scholarship will receive €3,000 towards their university fees tax free and in addition to the salary offered.

  • The deadline for applications is 28th February 2025.
  • Applicants will be required to attend a short video interview after the application stage.
  • Successful applicants will be notified by 31st March 2025.
  • The scholarship fund will be paid directly to the university on behalf of the successful applicant(s) to pay for their final year fees. Please note that if fees are already paid the award will be paid directly to the applicant.
  • All decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

Terms & Conditions

  • Following successful completion of final year exams (ratified results required) and successful Coru Registration the successful canditate/s will be employed by Spectrum Health on a full-time, permanent contract (subject to a 6-month probation period as normal).
  • The successful candidate/s will be required to become a member of the Society of Chiopodists and Podiatrists of Ireland and purchase a sufficient level of Professional Indemnity Insurance (available through the SCPI).
  • The hours of work will consist of 40 hours over a 4 or 5 day working week. There may be more than one location in the region.
  • Competitive remuneratrion package, starting salary of €42,000 with annual salary reviews, and the opportunity to join our commission structure. This is available along with our benefits package outlined below:

  • Uniforms and all tools of the trade will be supplied.
  • In the event that either party terminate the agreement within 2 years of commencing employment, the employee must repay a proportionate amount of the scholarship fund to Spectrum Health in line with the following scale:
    • Before employment commences or within 0-6 months of employment: 100% Repayment
    • Within 6-12 months of employment: 75% Repayment
    • Within 12-18 months of employment: 50% Repayment
    • Within 18-24 months of employment: 25% Repayment.
 

Spectrum Health Supports:

  • New employees will have access to a wide range of supports including:
    • Initial onboarding and clinical skills training.
    • Shadowing an experienced podiatrist.
    • Dedicated supervision for your first year working under a senior podiatrist.
    • Clinical skills development such as bi-monthly inservices organised by your clinical lead, accessing our CPD bursary (where Spectrum Health contributes towards external CPD course fees) and accessing our shared platform keeping up to date with clinical evidence to name a few.
    • Each new member of the Spectrum Health podiatry team will have access to a structured career plan, and will work with their clinical lead to identify and upskill on areas of development in order to progress their career over time.
